Darwin Psychiatry Practice (DPP) is a private Psychiatry clinic offering comprehensive mental health services. Our expert team of child, adolescent, adult and forensic psychiatrists and psychologists delivers personalised care through various therapeutic modalities including psychotherapy, behavioural interventions, pharmacological management and specialised assessments.
We provide services across all age groups in a private, comfortable setting. Our fee schedule is available upon request. Our clinicians operate during evening weekdays and weekends.
We do not provide emergency Psychiatry care due to limited nature of our practice.

Senior Consultant Psychiatrist

A/Prof Gagan Garg is a senior Consultant Child, Adolescent, and Youth Psychiatrist with extensive experience in psychiatry. Trained in the UK and based in Darwin since 2013, he specializes in managing children, adolescents, and youth with various mental health conditions. His expertise encompasses mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and Tourette Syndrome. A/Prof Garg offers services across the life span for ADHD and autism spectrum disorders.
A/Prof Garg holds Fellowships with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and the Royal College of Psychiatrists, London. As a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Flinders University and an A/Prof with Charles Darwin University, he contributes to medical education and research while supervising medical students, trainee psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals.

Brief Bio: Dr Mrigendra Das is a highly experienced Consultant General Adult and Forensic Psychiatrist with 27 years of clinical expertise. He offers comprehensive Psychiatry assessment and treatment, employing a sensitive, empathetic and patient-centred approach tailored to individual needs. With specialist Psychiatry training across Australia, United Kingdom and India, Dr Das holds distinguished fellowships from both the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK (FRCPsych). He completed his MD in Psychiatry from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, and received specialist training at the prestigious Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry, London. In 2002, he was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry by the UK Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board.
As an accredited member of the Australian College's Forensic Faculty, Dr Das provides expert forensic Psychiatry reports for civil, criminal and family law matters.
You do not need a referral to access our services. However, with a referral from a doctor (including General Practitioners, Psychiatrists, and Paediatricians), you can access a Medicare rebate for therapy services and select assessments.

We do not offer bulk billing. However, in most cases, you can access a Medicare rebate or claim through private health insurance (if eligible).
If referred by your GP, you will be entitled to a Medicare rebate. However, a ‘gap’ fee will be payable.
Some services may be rebated under Medicare or Private Health Insurance. Contact your insurer to check if therapy and counseling services are covered.
